Masala Mama May: Elizabeth, Hayley, Abba

It’s been a wonderful experience getting to know our mamas during #MasalaMamaMay – our celebration of the many different strong and graceful women that make up our amazing community. Thank you for following our journey so far, but it’s not over yet! We’ve only just reached the middle of May, so we’re just getting warmed up!

Let’s end this week on a high note with Elizabeth, Hayley, and Abba, shall we?

@blooming.little.blondes

This midwest Mama to beautiful baby girl, Aurora, has one of those feeds feeds you could scroll through over and over again. The pleasing palette, soft lighting, and precious moments captured always make us smile.

Following the birth of Aurora, Elizabeth began sharing their journey through her blog and instagram. This talented mama has figured out how to have it all, finding a balance between motherhood and fulfilling her creative outlet through photography &styling while working on social media marketing from home.

We asked Elizabeth to answer our fun little questionnaire to get to know her and her experience as a young mama a little better!

One word to describe your daughter: Spunky!

One word Aurora might use to describe you:  Milk! 😂 Mommy! Mine! (Still working on words)

How would you define your strength, your power?
My strength & power is all rooted in motherhood. I found a new person in myself when I had my daughter & it has taken all of my strength.

Best parenting lesson you’ve learned from your mom?
To work hard, save, & follow budgets…but to also go treat yourself to ice cream once in awhile too!

What do you like to do when you need some “ME” time?
Catch up on emails, Netflix, & snacks!!

What is your passion?
Staying home & raising my daughter. I started my blog & Instagram to share our lives, but also to support my family. I’m proud to be able to work from home doing social media marketing & fulfilling my creative outlet with photography + styling.

Favorite place you’ve traveled to?  What about it did you love?
We just recently visited Charleston, SC & Savannah, GA and I loved it! The charm, the food, the old trees…it was dreamy.

@elliemoms

Meet Hayley, mama to handsome little Oliver and Andrew. If you’re a new mom or expecting your first and wondering if it’s possible to do it all, prepare to be inspired.

After becoming a mom, Hayley took her professional career to the next level by building her own brand. Ellie, the app for parenting groups, is natural extension of her values, born from her ability to connect with others and her passion to be the best mom she can be for her kids.

Everyone wants to have it all, and Hayley’s story is proof that we can! With a little (or a lot, really) hard work, determination, and love, we can give our best selves to our children, our community, and ourselves! It isn’t easy, but that’s what makes Hayley a strong, graceful mama to be admired!

Describe your brand?
I’ve been building the ellie brand over the past year, which is an extension of my values. We’re all about community, collaboration and building others up.  ellie is an app for parenting groups–a private, secure and customizable platform where parents can share parenting advice and more. On ellie, parents can create their own group or find and join existing groups that interest them. Best of all, conversations are organized under “topics”–so busy parents can quickly find and get the information they need.  It’s available on Android and iOS

How would you define your strength, your power?
My strength is my ability to understand people–including my kids–and connect in an authentic way. I’m also able to wear a lot of hats at once!

How would you describe the four letter word, your “work?” 😊
For the first time in my professional career I’m working on something that I have built, and not something that was “the next step” in my career progression. My days are always different. I may be working with our developers on new features for the app, editing a piece for our blog, engaging with our community members, working with admins to create new groups or discussing partnerships with awesome parenting experts and brands. I’m constantly thinking of how we can bring more value to our community. On the other half of the equation, my mom “work” never stops! I’m building a brand, an app, a blog, and making sure my boys are taken care of every step of the way. I work 7 minutes from my house so I can easily lean in at home on days my boys need more of mommy. It can be hard to balance it all, but it’s definitely worth it.

Describe your ambition?
My ambition is to be the best mom my two boys will ever need, while also creating space for the ellie app to thrive and become the go-to-resource for new parents and parenting groups. I want to have it all! Presence with my children and growth through my career.

A little fun fact about yourself
I was born and raised in Kansas, and I was elected student body president in college (campus of 23,000 people)–second ever female in school history!

Your Spirit Animal:
Definitely an elephant!! It’s a matriarchal herd, and the inspiration behind the logo and name for our app!

Her strong personality shines through her answers below, and mama, we wouldn’t have it any other way!

One word to describe Myra: Creative

One word Myra would use to describe you: Best friend

How would you define your strength, your power?
My strength is that I’m a hard worker. My power: make your self-worth independent of others people’s opinion.

Best parenting lesson you’ve learned from your mom?
Be honest no matter how brutal it might be.

What do you like to do when you need some “ME” time?
Parlour visit or reading.

What is your passion?
My passion is my work, and I enjoy doing what I love. Everyone has to be at least a little bit passionate about what they do.

Favorite place you’ve traveled to?  What about it did you love?
Srilanka. I genuinely love the people. They are very kind and welcoming. Also food is to die for. 🙂

A little fun fact about yourself: Hmm… Firstly I’m an introverted person, which I’m sure a lot of people can guess. I can’t seem to like the ordinary. I’m just drawn to things that are unique or have that special something.
I’m terrible with names but great with faces.
